Woman begs boyfriend to help with chores, he says he’ll do it “when he feels like it”
Jul 23, 2026
She was tired before the day even started. Not because of work. Because of everything after work. The dishes, laundry, trash, groceries, cleaning, planning, remembering, reminding. Somehow, the apartment only functioned because she kept noticing what needed to be done. Her boyfriend lived there too. He said he would do chores when he felt like it. He said she cared too much. He said if she stopped doing everything so often, maybe he would have a chance to do it. So she waited. The mess stayed. When she finally broke down and said she felt unsupported, he accused her of being dramatic. That was the moment she realized the problem was not dirty dishes. It was the fact that he saw her exhaustion as nagging, not labor. He wanted credit for “helping” in a home he also lived in. She wanted a partner who noticed the mess before she had to become the manager of it. Now she is wondering if love is enough when one person gets a girlfriend, and the other gets a second job.
