Healer Ally
Staying friends with my ex destroyed my healing
I’ll say this bluntly: staying friends with your ex is one of the fastest ways to sabotage your own healing. As a tarot reader, I’ve seen this pattern too many times. The cards don’t even need to be dramatic. It’s always the same energy: one person trying to move on, while still leaving the door unlocked for someone who already walked out. You tell yourself it’s “mature.” You call it “peaceful.” But most of the time, it’s not peace. It’s attachment wearing a calmer outfit. You’re not healing if their name still changes your mood. You’re not free if one late-night message can undo two weeks of progress. And let’s be honest — “being friends” often means staying emotionally available for someone who no longer wants to fully choose you. That’s not closure. That’s self-abandonment. Some connections are meant to be grieved, not maintained. Not every ending needs a soft launch into friendship. Sometimes the most spiritual thing you can do is close the door, stop pulling cards about them, and finally pull your energy back to yourself. If this hit a nerve, it probably needed to. If you’re wondering whether your ex is still blocking your path, maybe that question already has an answer. I appreciate you listening today!
