She thought they were arguing about the present. But he kept dragging her past into every conversation. Her husband could be warm one moment and cold the next, triggered by names, places, jokes, even random details that reminded him of someone she knew before him. She had not spoken to that person in years. Still, he could not let it go. Every fight circled back to the same thing: who she had been before him. She started feeling like she was being punished for having a life before marriage. Eventually, she asked for space and moved his things into another room. She wanted calm, not separation. Instead, he told her he was filing for divorce. Later, he admitted he did not mean it. But by then, she realized the threat itself had become part of the problem. Love could not survive if every insecurity became a weapon.
