She was pregnant, exhausted, and trying not to overthink it. But her husband had put a lock on one room in their house, and every time she asked to go in, he got defensive. At first, he said it was just to keep their toddler from breaking things. Then the key started disappearing. Then he began questioning her every time she even mentioned the room. One night, she finally asked him to open it. He refused. She sat outside the door for hours while he told her she was being dramatic, controlling, and hormonal. He said there was nothing inside except weed and a gaming console, but still would not let her see it. By morning, the room was suddenly “ready” for her to look at. Everything felt staged. Now she cannot stop wondering what was really in there before he cleaned it up.
