Am I being unfair blaming this on men over 35 who are still single?
Honestly, I’ve been noticing a pattern showing up in the people I hear about. Especially men in their mid to late 30s re-entering serious dating. One (37) says he wants stability, but every conversation goes back to exes and strict expectations—someone “emotionally stable,” not “too much.” Another (36) is warm at first, then suddenly starts asking about kids, marriage timelines, life structure. It stops feeling like a date and starts feeling like a screening. Another (39) talks about timing and circumstances, but the list of requirements is very specific: easy, supportive, low resistance. Different people. Same structure. What stands out is not age, but what happens in real time: connection gets replaced by evaluation. People are no longer met. They are sorted. If this pattern feels familiar in your experience, it may be worth exploring what role you’re being placed into in relationships.
